UK - Cotswolds: Bourton-on-the-Water

Bourton-on-the-Water's high street is bordered by expansive greens and the River Windrush, which flows through the village. The river is spanned by five low, arched stone bridges, constructed between 1654 and 1953, which has earned the village the nickname "Venice of the Cotswolds." During the peak tourist season, the village often hosts more visitors than residents. Approximately 300,000 tourists arrive each year, compared to fewer than 3,500 permanent residents. The village is home to three churches: Our Lady and St. Kenelm Roman Catholic Church, Bourton-on-the-Water Baptist Church, and St. Lawrence Church of England. The latter is typically open to visitors during the week and is a Grade II listed building. A portion of St. Lawrence was built in the 14th century, with significant modifications occurring in the 1780s and the late 1800s.
